OSB stands for Oriented Strand Board and is also called flakeboard or sterling board. It is a type of engineered wood that is more popular than plywood in recent years when it comes to the structural panel market. The OSB is constructed from small logs of small trees that are taken out to allow the large trees to grow in the forest room. The cross-directional formation of the strand increases the strength of the OSB board. The resulting mat undergoes a high heat and pressure press which results in uniform and high-quality panels and then cooled and cut according to the size.  Panels are monitored and tested to meet stringent quality standards during this highly automated and fully engineered process.
